If you are wondering what this post about Inception totem is doing in this blog, well I can explain. Remember that Inception T shirts posts I did some times back? It’s one of the most viewed posts on this blog and considering the huge interest the movie Inception has generated about it it’s hardly a surprise. Anyway, looks like people are searching more than just Inception T-shirts. I have got several emails asking if I know where they can buy the totem shown in the movie.

So, just a few minutes back I logged into my mail and find another two new emails asking about the totems. Well, I thought, why not just do a post about it. So here it is, an ‘exception’ post on this t-shirt blog.

“So, where can I buy the Inception totem?”. Well, the first place I looked at was eBay. and a search there and you can see a lot of Inception totem listed for sale.

And then a Google search found me Inception Top and there’s also a hub on items that were used as totems by Ariadne, Arthur etc., (remember the dice?)

And yeah, I don’t really know about how exactly the items on sale would resemble with the totems shown in the movie as I have not checked them out myself, so make sure you go through it before buying. Anyway, the purpose of this post is served, and now I can just refer anybody who emails me asking about the Inception totems to this post. Kinda, time saver

There are tons of websites where you can submit your t-shirt design and make money. Threadless, DBH, Teefury to name a few! Also there are places like Zazzle where you can put up your own design for sale and make money without worrying about the printing and other stuffs. But all this requires designing skills. So what if you are not a designer but still wants to make money creating your own t-shirts? Well, you can. There are places where you can submit your own t-shirt ideas which if selected would be made into a t-shirt by the store itself and you get paid for the idea too. Granted, these kind of sites are much less compared to the sites that accepts a complete design, but they still offer a way for the non-designers to earn with their design ideas. You can submit anything for just a slogan to a complete t-shirt idea depending on the site requirement and get paid if your idea is made into a shirt. This is a small list of sites that accept t-shirt slogan or ideas and pays you for it. I would be coming up with another bigger list soon.

Threadless

Threadless is not only for the designers. Even if you are not a designer you can still get your idea made into a T-shirt by them. You can submit your slogans to Threadless to be made into a T-shirt. Don’t worry about the design as they will take care of it if your design is chosen. You also win a cool $500 if your slogan makes it to a tee.

ShockerTees

ShockerTees offers $150 + T-shirts for your t-shirt ideas that make it to a tee.

TShirtHell

TShirtHell is another place to submit your T-shirt ideas. If you idea gets selected by them you win $200 and 10 free t-shirts.

ThinkGeek

ThinkGeek the geek t-shirt (and other stuffs) store, accepts ideas submissions for T-shirts. If your idea gets selected by them to be made into a shirt, you win $250 in cash or $300 ThinkGeek gift certificate.

Remember the Anti-BP T-shirts post? Well new t-shirts about the oil spill disaster seems to be coming out still, and some of them are really good. Here’s one I missed before, “Protect Our Gulf”, simple and nice and gets the message across, ain’t it?

Like I said in my post yesterday, the BP oil spill related t-shirts seems to be coming out every day. Latest to join the trends is Threadless with the peliCAN t-shirt. The design is a result of collaboration between Threadless member Frederik Wepener of South Africa and Ross Zietz

It’s a $10 t-shirt and all proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Gulf Restoration Network. The BP oil spill has caused much outrage with the disaster still not over after several weeks have passed. The debate over how it should be solved, the impact of it on environment and many other concerns seems not to end in the near future. With that the call to boycott BP and to protest has also gained some voice. And if you are among the ones who is mad at BP (and who’s not?) and want to protest, here’s a different way you can do it. Before you make a facepalm and start throwing names at me, let me clarify that this is not another post about places like Zazzle where you can create a custom tee. They all seem to be very well known and have been the subject of many posts in numerous blogs (including this one!).

Here are a few less known (or less discussed) places or ways to create a custom t-shirt (well not entirely custom as you will see). They are based on a theme and you can create a tee based on it

Create a T-shirt from a Reddit thread
I don’t know if this feature was there on Reddit for a long time but it amazes me to find even some regular redditors to be unaware of it. No, not the Reddit tees that you can buy in the store. But do you know that you can create a T-shirt from any Reddit thread? If you do, well you can skip this section else read on.

You will find a link called “Shirt” on the tab menu bar above the thread title.

Just click on that link and your shirt will be created with the thread title on it and you can also buy it.

Create a T-shirt from Facebook status
Status King is a Facebook app that helps you discover clever status ideas. It also lets you create a T-shirt with your funny status. And if you get crowned as the status king, you even get a free T-shirt. Check out the app for more details.

Create a T-shirt from Twitter update
Want to put your favorite tweet on a T-shirt? You can do it with a few clicks. Just head over here, sign in with Twitter, choose a tweet, create the design and buy the resultant shirt. Simple!
